The Value of Restraint.
01
More isn’t always more
Adding another typeface, color, animation, image, or interaction can make a design feel more complete for a moment. But completeness and complexity are not the same thing.
Sometimes the most important decision is deciding what doesn’t need to be there.
02
Space gives things importance
When everything competes for attention, nothing really has it. Space creates hierarchy by allowing certain elements to exist without interruption.
A quiet area isn’t necessarily an empty one. It can be what makes everything around it matter.
03
Restraint requires confidence
Minimal work can be deceptively difficult because there is nowhere for weak decisions to hide. Every remaining element has to earn its place.
Restraint isn’t about making less. It’s about making every choice more deliberate.
